Kitch-iti-kipi is part of the Palms Book State Park, near Manistique, has lots of notable features, and is a must-see in the Upper Peninsula.

Some Facts

Kitch-iti-kipi is located in Palms Book State Park. The Big Spring is around two hundred feet across and forty feet deep. Over 10,000 gallons of water gush out, per minute, from many fissures from the underlying limestones. Throughout the year, the temperature of the water stays at a constant 45 °F and never freezes.

Getting to Kitch-iti-kipi

A short walk from Palms Book State Park, on a paved path, through pines and cedar trees will take you to the shoreline where you would see this beautiful emerald green pool. There’s a self-operated observation raft that will take you across the pool, the float operates on a cable that is pulled by a park employee or by visitors themselves. The flowing spring can be seen through the viewing windows or over the side of the raft.
